Victor Famous Fried Chicken Wing Rice and Hainanese Chicken Rice

"You ever heard of Corona chicken?"

"Never, is it related to the coronavirus?"

"No, not at all! Corona Chicken, didn't you have it growing up?"

    "Maybe not, I don't recall."

"It used to be everywhere, very popular."

(It was after googling, then I realized, that it is Carona, no Corona)

We headed out towards 638 Veerasamy Road, a humble and old HDB flat built in the 1980s, can you believe it?! You can notice the architecture from before modern times; it's a very old estate that has come a long way.

The queue justified its fame, and we were lucky to order before the lunch crowd arrived. I heard the people behind me murmuring and singing praises for the store, talking about how they've always eaten there.

Their signature dish is definitely the Fried Chicken Wing Rice, which actually reminds me of the $3.20 chicken wing rice from my favorite western stall back then. I wasn't usually a fan of chicken wings due to the bones, but my budget constraints left me no choice.

I don't want to downplay the taste, but it has its own uniqueness; I felt the skin and the flavor were strong in a good way, and it pairs really well with the fragrant oiled rice. I also heard that the Johor Porridge store right beside it is also pretty famous.

And I can now say that I've tried this fried chicken once! And now I've learned about the existence of "Carona Chicken" (which existed long before the virus).
