GMBB Kuala Lumpur

Standing at 9 odd stories, GMBB is an artist's galore. A plaza, a community, you name it. We had actually visited GMBB in 2023, but it isn’t as lively now, for we were honored to be able to come by during their official opening!

GMBB Kuala lumpur Fair level 1

We love how they have a pop-up market along the aisle, trailing across the frontage of the building. Along here, you’d find craft beer, local eats, artisan culinary concepts, and you’d be surprised that the beverages are the ones selling the most during this hot weather.

Heading in, you’d hear the sound of live music playing. It’s like they are making full use of their space—for all things art! Previously, we brought food inside, enjoying the alternative local live band. Having a makan session like that definitely felt different from the usual dinner or mamak.

    GMBB Kuala lumpur Level 9

We headed up and looked at the towering building, with each level having a square lighted up as if showing us the levels of dungeons we had to go through.

    GMBB Kuala lumpur Workshops

You name it, they’ve got it. Shops with workshop sessions all around, you’d see people being engaged, focusing, and doing their art. From painting to zine design and content creation.

There are also a variety of shops—one selling vinyl toys, independent bookstores, art galleries, and there’s a very interesting algae store that focuses on making our earth a little more sustainable even!

We do have a few favorites that I’ll be featuring on my site:

    • Bang Bang Zine: A zine studio that produces Riso Print artworks!
    • Wayang Kulit: A place that features wayang dolls made to pop culture.
    • Akari: A vinyl toy store with all things nostalgic and interesting.

And there were a few galleries that caught our eyes as well.

Not going to lie, we did have some sort of art fatigue nearing the 6th floor. It was simply… too much. Granted that we really did spend time in as many shops as possible, it really kind of wore down our introvert energy.

But I’m glad we kept going, perhaps only a little slower. I think this whole building took us close to 4-5 hours to cover, and it was worth it. So, for those who are into art and are looking for a location to spend the whole day away; this place is definitely worth it! And it’s a must-go whenever in KL.
