The Cape Gallery
After a fulfilling lunch, I head off to do my art gallery hoping while my friends head back to stay in for tea back in the hostel.
I was contemplating to just stay just now at first, then I figured, why not?
I met the old couple who have been running this place for decades. The wife is the main owner while the husband jokes about how he’s just a helper. They’re both really intelligent as we have some intellectual banter through arts, economics and politics. Well it just shows that there’s so much more than just arts... right? I moved on to the other parts of the gallery and I was awed by the overwhelming collection.
The amount of arts actually gave me a “collectors treasury vibe”, as the amount of arts are stacked to the floor. The collection of art is gigantic, however there’s an exhibition area at the back.
For me, I actually love the collection above. I love how homey it felt, with those simple furnishing, which the art stood and lay humbling against the timeless neutral walls.
Come pop by for a heartwarming chatter whilst you explore and get lost amongst the enormous array of art, literally.

The artistic streets of Church Street goes for a humble stretch where you can not only catch the Cape Gallery, but also WORLDART, AVA Gallery and SMITH, all within a stone throw away from each other. I love how I’m able to strike off multiple places at once in little art streets like this one.
Definitely a good place to meet creative minds, see art and go for an evening stroll along the Cape Town City Center.
