Troye Sivan - Strawberries & Cigarettes
A song by Australian singer-songwriter Troye Sivan, Strawberries & Cigarettes is a song that is very personal to me.
It was a reminder of sort for this, of the narratives that I’d been through, mostly of a particular person whom I’d share some intense emotions with. The taste of her lips, hoping that things would get better or change, the endless chase for happiness down at the end of the tunnel that I hope we would make out of.
The dreamy and electronic tune really struck a chord in me despite it being mostly pop-ish. I first came across this from a the movie, “Love, Simon”, and it is the recent years of movie productions started showcasing a more versatile and unique songs that got me keeping a look out.
The synth pop made me took a few more sips at my past relationship and sang out my inner trauma as I dealt with one sided love and sadness. Even though as sad as it sounds, strawberry and cigarettes also made me felt less lonely at 3am.
