Songdo (Busan)

I'll try covering the whole area of Songdo in this write-up, as this place could be experienced as a "whole". Songdo was the last area that we crossed off before we called it a day.

Below are the places that I would be covering in this post:
Songdo Marine Cable Car Air Cruise
    Songdo Skywalk/Songdo Cloud Trails (송도구름산책로)
    The Songdo Cable Car Base
    Songdo Beach ( 송도해수욕장 )
Songdo Cable Car Songdo Sky Park/Amnam Park

    Songdo Hike

After exploring the Jagalchi and Nampodong Area, we took a bus over to check out Songdo. Songdo is only around less than 20minutes away, and you'll find the Songdo Cable Car Base right by the side along the coast. There's where you'll find Songdo Beach at the right side of the coast, with the walkable bridge. I'll get back to it later.

    Songdo Beach

    Songdo Beach

The beach is a beautiful sight, of course, however, it didn't stand out that much because of the various other attractions in this area. It is a pity, though it might seem like a good place for a quiet picnic for beach lovers who find Haeundae alittle too crowded.

We decided to take a round trip due to the time constraint, whereas there's actually a nice hike you could take along the coast and back.

    Songdo Cable Car

This place is a must-go if you're ever thinking of taking a cable car in Busan. It is nice to time-ed the Sunset if you're exploring Songdo on a weekday (as most of the locals usually hike, drive over to the other side). The cable car ride is amazing, with an inbuilt Bluetooth speaker to play your tunes over the ocean. The staffs are friendly as they also gave us the whole cubicle to ourselves. The whole ride isn't all that fast, however, I find the way back towards Songdo is more beautiful probably because of the Sunset that we manage we catch. The view towards Songdo isn't too shabby actually since the blue horizon is a magnificent view too.

    The Songdo Cable Car Base

We got off the cable car, feeling all exciting as we can't wait to check out each and every one of the attractions there. The building itself, however, contains quite a bit of entertainment! We couldn't wait to leave the building, but we decided to do everything "step by step". The cable car base area consists of a souvenir shop, a toy gallery (which you should definitely check out), some photo area that comes with a cafe and restaurant together with an amazing cable car museum at the bottom. Speak about dining with a view! You should probably try dining here or checking out the rows of street food outside the ground level that leads out to the park.

Songdo Cable Car Songdo Sky Park/ Amnam Park

    Songdo Busan Time Capsule

This area consists of the area which stretched out to several other areas, branching out to the places where you can check out the dinosaur displays, part of the little prince artistic statues, the time capsule art installation, and several others. There is also a public piano placed in the middle along one of the grass patches!

For the Time Capsule Art Installation in Songdo, please be sure to pick up your time capsule after 2 years! It is also a very clever way to get you to revisit South Korea (Busan), again! hahaha

    Songdo Skywalk Dinosaur

The dinosaurs actually brought out the kid in me, as we went towards the statues, watching them roar to life (likely motion detection).

    Hiking Area

    Songdo Busan Hiking

After checking out most of the installations, we are left to hike at our own leisure. It is nice to walk around the area, taking in nature's breath, looking out at the sea. You would really love this place if you enjoy looking at the sea. Some paths are slippery and uneven, so do be careful if you're planning to hike. There are paths leading down towards the cliff area, some across further to the back. Seems like there is alot of places you can hike to from here. We didn't have too much time to get lost in an area, so we hurried back after spending around 30minutes walking around, enjoying the breeze, and looking at cats! Yes, for some reasons there are alot of resident felines here.

    Songdo Skywalk

    Songdo Skywalk

We checked out Songdo Sky Walk when we are back. There are tiles, detailed in Korean, show us the mermaid (which I am guessing would be the daughter of the dragon king). She rescued a drowning fisherman and they both fell in love. However, they couldn't be together due to their differences. I don't know what happened, but seems like the fisherman died to save the mermaid, and the island was born...? I tried searching the legend of Geobukseom Island at Songdo but didn't found much information. Stories aside, the skywalk is shaped like a dragon flying across the ocean (distraction!) :D

     Songdo Busan Waves

There is quite a bit to see alongside with the skywalk, there is also the coast area where you can walk towards the edge to get a good look at the sea, the horizon and towards Songdo itself. We adored the rest of the sunset by the shore of the island (It can get rocky and slippery so please be careful), and we retreat when the waves start to get really high. You'll also find yourself with several places to go, and there is food just about everywhere. We found this seemingly tourist-friendly place for a hot piping stew to fight the cold. We got ourselves an English Menu even though the staff can't speak English. With that, we slowly make our way back home, and we took a very impromptu hike at Dombaek before walking back to our apartment all the way from there!
