Seoul Museum of Korean Folk Music
While on the way to Changdeokgung, we came across this enticing establishment which is known as the Seoul Museum of Korean Folk Music. It is only after visiting, that makes me deem this the most underrated museum that I’d ever been to.
Upon entering the museum ground, I love how we were welcomed by the traditional Korean architecture in their yard area and also the interior itself. We asked if there are any admission charges and it is to our delight that this place is free. I still can’t believe it because we had quite alot of fun here, let me share more with you.
The interior is alittle modern albeit the whole traditional look, there are A/Cs and comfortable sitting across the first level, where iPad graced each table. With dual headphones, visitors can explore and listen to Korean Folk Music across South Korea. The oak and the brown-white contrast gave the whole place a very neo-traditional minimalistic vibe. We thought that is all but however, the lower area is even more impressive than we thought.
A hidden gem is a hidden gem because of how underrated a place can be, and how it is a gem when they have so much more value than everyone else know, and they deserve to shine. The lower area consists of one of the newest technology of museum installations that I’d seen. Interactive pieces that would move at your touch, more earphones that share more of the folk music with a visual touch of storytelling. Our personal favorite would probably be the short and simple musical game that is tucked humbly at the side.
There are tons of games, and interaction installations built to cater to visitors of all ages and how they can be exposed to folk music, and it felt like a very well done museum, maybe alittle too much (in a good way of course). I hope more people can check this place out, and share this gem of a museum to fellow travelers visiting Seoul!
