Kwan Im Thong Hood Cho Temple
Haven't been at my best, so I took time off work to breathe at Bugis Library. After a close call with a listing slipping through my fingers, I wonder if I haven't been convincing enough. It's obvious that the stars haven't aligned for me.
Movie credits rolled, characters left with a bittersweet epiphany. A voice echoes, reminding me of how Dad prayed here.
I searched, discovering it's open till 5:30 pm.
"Well, time to see if the stars align now," I checked my watch; "5:01 pm."
It didn't take long to reach Waterloo, a lazy weekday afternoon. Fortune tellers fan against the humidity, waiting before calling it a day.
The temple emerged, roof sprouting at the corners. Joss sticks are free, and the place is friendly for visitors. Chinese and English instructions guide you. I peeked at fellow worshippers before confirming the number of joss sticks.
"Can I ask for a lot?" No.
"Really? I came all the way here." No.
"Okay, if this is no, then I'll take it as a bad day. Let me confirm again or give me permission." Yes.
Yes! (Later, I realized we can shake for a lot and throw the confirmation to see if it's meant for us.)
Shaking was hard; it took a long time before I got one, only to fail the confirmation. I closed my eyes, asked for guidance, and kept shaking.
"73."
"Is this it?" I got a double confirmation. The staff chuckled when I said I went to "double confirm" with the deity.
It seems good. I like how my career and lawsuit are looking. Both gave me anxiety attacks recently.
I left the temple comforted, relieved to know things will work out. Perhaps this is how the universe tells me, "This too shall pass."
If you're ever here, the divinitions are so tourist-friendly that it comes with both english and chinese guidebooks! And I found out that if you would like someone profesh to decipher your divitnition lot, there are quite anumber of fortune-tellers-oracle-psychic around the area for you to ask for help.
