Alserkal Avenue

I was recommended to this amazing place by one of my friends, here’s a shoutout to you if you see this Les!

After the kite beach, I decided to walk towards the avenue anyway as taking a bus is much longer than walking. And well, for walking I could power walk for a bit instead of waiting for the bus if I missed it. So I begin my walk, and it was surprisingly one of the highlights as I walked through the different neighborhoods and parts of Dubai. The posh housing area is definitely an eye-opener as the houses are as big as a mini-castle and the gates go really high like a mini fortress prepared of the zombie apocalypse.

I was suspicious of the place as Google didn’t show much information and there is a car yard by the side. I thought I might get the wrong place as I walked in with my fingers crossed.

And little did I know this would definitely be a place that I’ll revisit whenever I’m in Dubai. The art district comes with a warehouse theme as there are lines of warehouses lining up across the compound. Within the compound, we’d got installations, performance spaces, theatre studio, a cinema, cafes, chocolate factory and also... art galleries! (Which, I’ll definitely cover on my site)

I walked around the area this time with smiles on my face trying to take everything in. Now I’m blaming myself for not arriving any earlier since I’m here at 5, which barely leaves me time. It’s a bummer that the galleries, in general, closes pretty early. Like 6-7 pm early. I’ll probably cover the ones that I visited to give you a glimpse of it.

There is so much more to see over here, as I spoke with several artists alike, from gallery curators to cafe staff. We talked about art, discuss about movies and it’s always really refreshing to be able to talk and exchange media taste with somebody.

Please pop by this free working space if you have some time to spare, friendly staff, coffee isn’t too expensive and you get a charging port, great wifi, and excellent vibes. I’m so thankful to be able to find this spot because this is such a hidden gem! Even most locals haven’t heard about this art space.
